The Story Of Pizzarexia

It was January, 2007. Benjamin was sent home from school sick. He had a fever. I came home from work early to take care of him

His stomach was hurting and he felt nauseous. I gave him some ginger ale. He sipped it slowly for a while. When I was ready for dinner, I ordered a pizza. Ben wanted some. I was worried it would make his stomach worse. He started begging. I told him to take a small bite. I asked him to wait a few minutes before taking another bite. He did. After about 10 minutes, he finished an entire slice. He wanted more. I made him wait 20 minutes. Then I gave him a second slice. I told him to eat it slowly. He seemed to be feeling much better. We waited a while longer and he had a third slice.

By bedtime he was feeling better than ever and had eaten 5 slices of pizza. When we checked his temperature in the morning, his fever was gone.

I speculate that the pizza made him better. If that is true then he was suffering from a lack of pizza.

I have called this previously unknown condition pizzarexia.
